In celebration of Women's History month in March, the DWC's Linda Linzey gave a presentation to the DWC on the significant contributions made by women throughout history. Linzey's discussion focused on the 2019 National Women's History Alliance theme, "Visionary Women, Champions of Peace and Non-Violence."

Kathy Phillips, Coastkeeper and Executive Director of the Assateague Coastal Trust, was the speaker at the February meeting of the DWC. Phillips spoke about legislative priorities for 2019, including the Community Healthy Air Act. In March, members of the DWC Political Action Committee joined the non-profit, STRONG SCHOOLS MD, in Annapolis to meet with Maryland's legislators and encourage them to support the Kirwan Commission school reform legislation (SB1030 & HB1413). Meetings were held with State Delegate, Wayne Hartman, and the staff of State Senator, Mary Beth Carozza, to urge "full funding of Kirwan."
